Owner

Hi, I’m Rick Peterson and along with my wife Patti, own PowerLift Hydraulic Doors Inc. Our company philosophy is simple: we value and are committed to our customers, our families, our employees and our reputation.

I started a welding repair shop in Lake Benton, Minnesota in 1988. I built the first commercial hydraulic door in Minnesota in1992 for a farmer who thought a one piece door would be easier to operate.  When you look at all the advantages and value of a PowerLift Hydraulic Door it’s no wonder that the business has kept expanding.  We built a new shop in 2008 to meet customer requests but even that wasn’t enough to meet demand.

We were receiving calls from areas where we just couldn’t reasonably help the customer with their needs. We knew we had a great product and we knew other customers wanted it. We knew there had to be  other like-minded shops who have the same values and commitments that we do, that could help our customers meet their needs.

The first shop we discovered is the father-son team of Tom and Brian Switzer in Neligh Nebraska. The Switzers have been helping farmer’s with their problems around central Nebraska for over thirty years.  Having just purchased a larger shop, Tom and Brian install PowerLift Hydraulic Doors over the entire state of Nebraska.

The next welding and fabrication shop we partnered with is Metal Services of Blooming Prairie located of course, in Blooming Prairie Minnesota. Denny Heimerman and his son  Ryan have built a good business using the same values and commitments we believe in. They have  just a fantastic fabrication shop. Metal Services installs PowerLift Hydraulic Doors in the eastern half of Minnesota, northeast Iowa and western Wisconsin.

Our newest partnership is with Gene and Lance Allen, the father and son tandem from Jud North Dakota. Located near Jamestown, Gene and Lance have been in many avenues of working with customers including custom harvesting. Gene holds a patent on a fruit harvesting machine. Dakota PowerLift Doors LLC, Gene and Lance’s company, works with customers in North Dakota and northern South Dakota.

All these partners share our same vision: build the best product you can, provide the best value you can and provide the best customer service you can.  We honestly treat customers in the same way we want to be treated.

That’s the PowerLift Hydraulic Door story. If you have any questions or if you would like to contact us, we would love to hear from you.   Just go the contact page, click on us and drop us a note. Value and commitment are what we take seriously. We hope you do too. Sincerely, Rick Peterson.

Low Prices

When you come across a deal that the price is just too good to be true, you have to ask yourself why. Why is this so cheap? What does the price really cover? Are there any hidden or additional costs? Is what you’re purchasing really what you think you’re getting or are you comparing apples to oranges? What’s the quality like? Will they stand behind the product with a good warranty? Is the final total cost really that good of a deal? With the million different sales gimmicks out there you have to be careful. We never have and never will use gimmicks. We do our business straight up and honest. ..…Rick

FACT and Fiction

Posted on Monday, June 14th, 2010 at 8:42 pm

Some of the stories we hear are as bad as the tabloids. You wonder where some of these stories come from. Facts can be proven while fiction is something well, someone just dreamed up.

FACT: We have been commercially making hydraulic doors since 1992, longer than anyone in Minnesota.                   Fiction: someone else has been making them longer.

FACT: Beginning in the industry first, we designed our door ourselves.                               Fiction: We copied someone’s patent.

FACT: We have never had any litigation regarding anything on our product. We don’t even know of any unsatisfied customers(ask your storyteller if they can say the same) .                       Fiction: We are being sued for something, somewhere .

FACT: We double our business just about every year and are more financially stable than ever in our history.                             Fiction: We are about to go bankrupt.

FACT: We don’t have a huge sales staff inventing stories just to make the sale. We concentrate our efforts on providing a great product and taking care of our customers. Contact us and let us prove our product and the facts to you.…….Rick

Making stuff disappear

Posted on Tuesday, May 11th, 2010 at 9:41 pm

Has your existing building been collecting “stuff”?  “Stuff” is a good indication that the building is not as useful as it originally was. Don’t worry, we can help. We’ve shared in many remodeling projects over the years like changing barns or single sloped buildings into usable space or enlarging the doors on round buildings or even changing how equipment flows in and out of buildings to allow for more storage. There isn’t much we haven’t seen. Why not remodel that building to make it useful again and something you’re proud of. You’ll be amazed at how the “stuff” will disappear…..Rick
